Wayne Shuford – Baritone

Wayne was born and raised in Lincolnton, NC. His family attended Riverview Baptist Church where his father sang in the church quartet. When his father passed away in 1953, Wayne’s brother, Darius, started a high school quartet. Darius was the pianist. Wayne was still in grammar school so the guys would go to the grammar school and take Wayne to the high school to sing for the chapel programs. The students would clap and yell making the group think they really liked their singing only to find out that they just wanted to stay out of class longer.

That was the beginning of Wayne’s singing career.

From there he sang with several other groups including the Crusaders from Charlotte, NC before joining the Pine Ridge Boys as their original tenor in 1963. In 1967 he joined The Trav’lers from Greenville SC and was their tenor for the next 45 years before retiring the group in 2012. Wayne rejoined the Pine Ridge Boys in 2013 as their baritone.

Wayne has been married to his lovely wife, Rosielee, for 53 years. They have one awesome son, Colonel, who is married to the former Ramona McKinney. Wayne and Rosielee have 2 wonderful grandchildren, Jacob (28) and Summer (23).

In 2004 Wayne was honored by the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion with the Living Legend Award and in 2008 was inducted into the South Carolina Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Wayne and Rosielee have made their home in Greenville, SC since 1969.
